Your Care Team
Our doctors are not just clinicians — they're neighbors, community members, and dedicated healers who chose to practice in Chinatown because they believe this community deserves world-class care.
Lead Physician & Practice President
Dr. Jian Wei Zhang is the founding physician and president of Main Street Medical (Metro True Care Medical, P.C.) — a practice he built from the ground up in 2007 to serve the Asian-American community and broader Chinatown neighborhood.
A board-certified internist, Dr. Zhang trained at Sun Yat-Sen University, Zhongshan School of Medicine — one of China's most respected medical institutions — before completing his residency at St. Barnabas Hospital in New York. His clinical acumen is matched by a deep commitment to the patients and community he has served for nearly two decades.
Dr. Zhang speaks fluent English, Mandarin, and Cantonese, making him an invaluable physician for patients who prefer to discuss their health in their native language. His approach is thorough, unhurried, and genuinely patient-centered — a rarity in busy Manhattan medicine.
In addition to leading the Manhattan clinic at 139 Centre Street, Dr. Zhang also sees patients at the Brooklyn and Queens Rendr locations, reflecting his extraordinary dedication to the communities Rendr serves.
Board-Certified Internist
Dr. Kuan H. Shen is a respected board-certified internist at the Manhattan clinic, known for his meticulous diagnostic approach and ability to translate complex medical information into clear, actionable guidance for patients.
Dr. Shen brings specialized expertise in internal medicine with a focus on the nuanced health concerns that affect the Asian-American community, including cardiovascular risk factors, metabolic conditions, and preventive screenings tailored to genetic risk profiles.
His patients describe him as thoughtful, precise, and genuinely invested in their long-term outcomes — a physician who follows up, remembers details, and sees the whole person, not just the symptom.
Internal Medicine & Women's Health
Dr. Cynthia Tam is a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine who brings a holistic, whole-body perspective to internal medicine and women's primary health care at the Manhattan clinic.
Trained at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (residency) after completing medical school at the Western University of Health Sciences, College of Osteopathic Medicine of the Pacific, Dr. Tam combines rigorous clinical training with a deeply empathetic approach to patient care.
Her focus on women's health is a particular strength of the practice — she addresses the full spectrum of women's primary care needs from annual well-woman exams and menopause management to complex hormonal and metabolic conditions that disproportionately affect women.
Patients describe Dr. Tam as warm, thorough, and uniquely skilled at making them feel seen and heard during what can often be intimidating clinical encounters.
Internal Medicine
Dr. Anthony Tam is a board-certified internist who brings rigorous academic training from some of New York's most prestigious institutions to his work at the Manhattan and Brooklyn Rendr clinics.
Dr. Tam earned his medical degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo and completed his residency at Mount Sinai Beth Israel — one of New York City's premier teaching hospitals. This training ground him in both the science and the humanity of medicine.
He sees patients across the full spectrum of internal medicine and primary care, with particular attention to chronic disease management, preventive care, and complex medical cases requiring thoughtful diagnostic reasoning. His clinical style is direct, honest, and deeply collaborative.
Every physician at Main Street Medical is part of the Rendr Care Physicians network, offering both in-person appointments at 139 Centre Street and secure telehealth visits for established and new patients.
